At Summit, we understand we are only as strong as the communities we serve, which is why each year we partner with local charitable organizations, schools, industry groups and our employees to give back to those we serve and their communities with these goals in mind:

Support the betterment of the communities, environment and people we serve, enhance relationships within those communities, and support business development and growth.

Community Partnerships

United Way

Each year, Summit and its subsidiaries partner with the United Way to raise money for charitable organizations throughout our communities. Employees help by being an advocate, giving, and volunteering with the United Way. The company also matches employee contributions to the United Way Campaign up to $5,000 annually in each state where we operate.

Charitable Giving

Because we want to be a good community partner and neighbor, each year we donate resources to worthy causes that maintain and improve the sense of community in the areas we serve. Whether it is providing funding for community events and services or offering funding to local organizations for community-building efforts, we are dedicated to our community.

Each year, through our charitable grant and sponsorship program, we award funding to organizations and businesses with strategies that align with our interests. Priority is given to environmental, health-related and educational initiatives and programs, as well as economic and cultural initiatives geared toward improving the well-being of our neighbors.

Volunteerism

As a community-oriented company, we are committed to giving back to those we serve, which is why we provide each employee with up to 20 hours of paid time off annually* to use towards volunteering with non-profit organizations. Some of the activities employees use their volunteer time for include volunteering with local parks and recreation departments, coaching sports teams, cleaning up trash and garbage and teaching in classrooms.

* Benefits for some positions in Arkansas and Oklahoma are governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement and may differ from the benefits we provide to our other employees.

Energy Efficiency

At Summit, we are committed to reducing carbon emissions and providing affordable energy solutions to our customers. One of the ways we do that is through investments in energy efficiency. Each year, we invest more than $3.0 million on energy efficiency programs that directly benefit our customers. By reducing the overall energy usage of those we serve, we not only keep more money in the pockets of our customers, but we also help them reduce their carbon footprint.
